History

     The Company was incorporated August 2, 2000, and is a research and development company focused on bringing to the marketplace unique disease-associated biomarkers and in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) tools to fulfill unmet needs in serological assessment of stroke or brain attack.  CIS Biotech is primarily engaged in research, development, and marketing of products in the cerebrovascular and cardiovascular disease area and in diabetes.

     CIS Biotech has developed proprietary cost-effective test kits that shorten the time required by a physician to diagnose the type of stroke accurately and initiate appropriate treatment.  Using just a few drops of a patient’s blood, the test kits:
             a.         require no supporting diagnostic equipment,
             b.         deliver timely and highly reliable diagnostic results,
             c.         are considerably less expensive than other diagnostic regimens, and
             d.         are user-friendly.

CEO Svetlana A. Dambinova

Chairman of the Board
Svetlana A. Dambinova, Ph.D, DSci. Chairman of the Board and Chief Scientific Consultant. Dr. Dambinova has more than 30 years of experience in neurobiology, neurochemistry, and laboratory medicine. She has published more than 300 scientific papers and been awarded 35 international patents, of which 16 have been transferred to the IVD industry. She is currently a visiting Professor, Chemistry Department, Emory University. Dr. Dambinova received a Ph.D. in Biochemistry in 1977 and a Doctor of Science in Stroke in 1987. She has been a repeatedly invited as a Guest Lecturer at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) division of the National Institutes of Health since 1989. Dr. Dambinova’s book, BRAIN BIOMARKERS FOR CEREBRAL ISCHEMIA: NMDA Receptor Degradation and Blood Assay Development, had very good comments from the American Association of Clinical Chemistry (AACC) members of the Board and was recommended for publication. It has already been accepted by AACC Press and should be published in the near future. Professor Dambinova was awarded a top prize at the American Association of Clinical Chemistry (AACC) 35th Annual Oak Ridge Conference in 2003 for her work in utilizing diagnostic testing to identify stroke and TIA. She is a member of the International Society for Neurochemistry, American Heart and Stroke Association, National Neurotrauma Society, American Association for Clinical Chemistry, and World Stroke Organization.




Uliana I. Danilenko

Chief Executive Officer
Uliana I. Danilenko, PhD. Chief Executive Officer received her PhD from Emory University (Chemistry Department) in biochemistry and neuroscience fields with extensive pre- doctoral training at Emory University (Atlanta, GA), Wake Forest University School of Medicine (Winston-Salem, NC), and Institute of Human Brain Russian Academy of Sciences (St. Petersburg, Russia). She also holds the degree in Pharmacy from Saint Petersburg State Chemical Pharmaceutical Academy, Russia. Dr. Danilenko is responsible for marketing, work with distributors and quality control management.




Robert R. Rhinehart

President

Robert R. Rhinehart. President. Mr. Rhinehart is the Managing Member of GRACE Laboratories, LLC, a sister company to CIS Biotech, Inc. Mr. Rhinehart is President of RRR Financial, Inc. and Rhinehart Capital Management. In 1999, Mr. Rhinehart retired after 31 years from Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner, & Smith as a First Vice President. Mr. Rhinehart earned a certificate as a Certified Investment Management Analyst from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania Program of the Investment Management Consultants Association. He is a former member of the New York Stock Exchange Board of Arbitrators and a Certified Financial Planner (Retired). He is on the Board of Trustees of Whitefield Academy, and former member of the Board of Trustees of Mount Vernon Christian Academy. He is a member of the Technological Association of Georgia and the Georgia Biomedical Partnership. He is a graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (Co-op) Degree.




German Khunteev, M.D., Ph.D.

German Khunteev, M.D., Ph.D. Director of Central Clinical Laboratory. More than eight years of academic experience in Neurochemistry and Biochemistry; clinical experience in Neurology at Pavlov’s State Medical University (St. Petersburg, Russia), Institute of Human Brain (St. Petersburg, Russia), Post-Diploma Medical Educational Academies (St. Petersburg and Irkutsk, Russia), City Emergency Hospital (Ulan-Ude, Russia), Buryatian State Hospital (Ulan-Ude, Russia) with postdoctoral training at Emory University (Atlanta, GA) and Pavlov’s State Medical University (St. Petersburg, Russia). Published more than 10 scientific papers and a co-author in 2008 provisional patent application 61/098,084 "Immunoassays Detecting Neurotoxic Edema or/and Microlesions Defined by Neuroimaging". More than four years of clinical laboratory experience in diagnostic tests feasibility and testing as well as training in CLIA federal and state of Georgia requirements.




Dr. Bobbie Bailey Chair,

Dr. Bobbie Bailey. Chairman of Business Advisory Committee. A well-known sports and medical philanthropist, member of the Kennesaw State University Foundation Board of Trustees, and president of Bailey Design, Inc., Dr. Bailey was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Letters from KSU in 1998. KSU’s Bobbie Bailey Athletic Complex, named in her honor, was dedicated in March 2004. A gift to the DeKalb Medical University Foundation resulted in the acquisition of a new PET/CT scanner for advanced diagnostic cancer services in the M. Bobbie Bailey and Audrey B. Morgan Diagnostic Imaging Center.

Clark Sullivan

Clark Sullivan, Ch.E., J.D. Clark Sullivan is an attorney in Arnall, Golden and Gregory’s Atlanta office, where he focuses on the protection and enforcement of intellectual property for the pharmaceutical and industrial chemicals industries. He counsels corporations, universities, and emerging technology companies on all aspects of intellectual property law, with a particular emphasis on strategic patent counseling, patent enforcement, and patent defense. Mr. Sullivan received a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering Degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1987, and has performed post-graduate coursework in molecular biology at Georgia State University. He obtained his law degree from Georgia State University, magna cum laude, in 1991. Mr. Sullivan serves as an ex officio member of the Board of Directors of the Georgia Biomedical Partnership, and recently served on the Executive Committee for the Intellectual Property Law Section of the State Bar of Georgia.

H. Carey Barnes, CPA. Carey Barnes is a founding partner and managing partner of Barnes Broyles & Associates LLP. He has extensive experience in mergers, acquisitions, business consulting and financing as well as corporate, partnership, and individual income tax planning. He has been involved in both the audit and tax planning work for manufacturing and real estate companies, and has clients in many different industries including real estate development, architecture, interior design, equipment sales and leasing, printing, lumber manufacturing, advertising, cable television, wholesale supply, and construction contracting. Carey worked in the Atlanta office of Cherry, Bekaert & Holland from 1970 to 1980 as partner and managing partner prior to forming Barnes Broyles & Associates LLP. He was graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelors of Business Administration in 1964 and a Masters of Accountancy in 1965. He became a Georgia CPA in 1966. Carey is a member of the Georgia Society of CPAs and the AICPA. He attends Northpoint Community Church. He and his wife, Sheila, have three children and six grandchildren.

James F. Toole, M.D.

James F. Toole, M.D. James F. Toole was born in Atlanta, GA, on March 22, 1925. He received his B.A. degree from Princeton University in 1947, his M.D. degree from Cornell University Medical College in 1949, and his L.L.B. from LaSalle Extension University in 1963. He spent six years in the United States Navy, three as a flight surgeon. From 1948 to 1958, he did his postgraduate training in Havana, Cuba; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and the Institute of Neurology, Queen’s Square, London, as a Fulbright Scholar in Neurology. He has been certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, American Society of Neuroimaging – Neurosonology, and the American Board of Neurorehabilitation. He is the Walter C. Teagle Professor of Neurology and Director of the Cerebrovascular Research Center, dividing his time among academic activities, research, and the training of fellows, house officers, and medical students. He was Chairman of the Department of Neurology from 1962-1983. He has been a consultant to the World Health Organization meetings in Japan, Switzerland, Africa, and the USSR. His expertise on the nervous system and its disorders has been presented in pamphlets for the American Heart Association and the North Carolina Heart Association; in five editions of his book, Cerebrovascular Disorders; three volumes of The Handbook of Clinical Neurology; in teaching films; on local and national television; and in more than 600 published articles. He has served as a member of editorial boards on numerous publications. Research activities include Director and Principal Investigator of the Cerebrovascular Research Center; Principal Investigator of the Asymptomatic Carotid Atherosclerosis Study (ACAS); Co-Principal Investigator of the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) study; and Principal Investigator of the Vitamins for Intervention in Stroke Prevention (VISP) study. Dr. Toole has been active in American and international societies and organizations for many years. A small sampling of his involvements include: Secretary-Treasurer and President of the American Neurological Association; an eight-year term as Secretary Treasurer General of the World Federation of Neurology; Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Neurological Sciences; Vice-President and President of the American Society of Neuroimaging; President of the World Federation of Neurology; a four-year term as President of the International Stroke Society; and currently is a member of the World Stroke Organization International Board of Directors.




Joseph B. Justice, Jr., Ph.D.

Joseph B. Justice, Jr., Ph.D. Dr. Justice has been Professor of Chemistry at Emory University, Atlanta, GA, since 1987. From 2000-2003 he was Chair, Department of Chemistry, Emory University. Since 1987 he has been on the Faculty of the Neuroscience Program and the Molecular and Systems Pharmacology Program, Emory University. Dr. Justice has been on the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Neurochemistry, Synapse, the Journal of Neuroscience Methods, and Critical Reviews in Neurobiology. He has been President, Atlanta Chapter, Society for Neuroscience. Dr. Justice has published 123 scientific papers and is involved in ongoing research with current grants from the National Institute on Drug Abuse and the National Science Foundation totaling over $2,000,000. Dr. Justice received his BS Degree in Chemistry from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ, in 1968 and his Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC, in 1974.




Hans-Georg Eisenweiner, Ph.D.

Hans-Georg Eisenweiner, Ph.D. Dr. Eisenweiner is the president of EiCon G.m.b.H., a diagnostic healthcare consulting company in Weil am Rhein, Germany. Dr. Eisenweiner was formerly Head of Research and Development of Roche’s Diagnostic Division, Hoffmann-La Roche, Inc in Basle, Switzerland. He managed up to 120 persons and was involved in the broad diagnostic fields of Clinical Chemistry, Immuno-Chemistry, Coagulation and Microbiology and their automation. Later on he was also responsible for the search, identification, and licensing-in of new diagnostic analytes and new methodologies/technologies. He is the author of more than 50 publications and is a member of the German as well as the Swiss Society for Clinical Chemistry and the American Association of Clinical Chemistry. Dr. Eisenweiner has more than 35 years of experience in the diagnostic laboratory field. He received his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Mainz, is a certified Clinical Chemist and was head of the Neurology Clinic of the University of Göttingen before he entered the Roche organization. Dr. Eisenweiner retired 5 years ago and started EiCon. CIS Biotech, Inc., has engaged EiCon and Dr. Eisenweiner as our European Consultant.

Dr. Weissman is a Chair, Institutional Review Board and neurologist at DeKalb Medical Center. His clinical activities include stroke, epilepsy, general neurology and sleep disorders. Dr. Weissman has received 10 grants, from Warner-Lambert Parke-Davis, Otsuka Pharmaceuticals, Roche Laboratories, and Emory Medical Care Foundation. He is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, the American Academy of Neurology, the American Epilepsy Society, the American Sleep Disorders Association, and the Society for Neurological Spectroscopy.
