"Stroke", "brain attack", and "ischemic attack" are interchangeable terms used for an interruption of the blood supply to the brain.

Warning signs are:
1. Sudden numbness or weakness of face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body.

2. Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding.

3. Sudden vision difficulty in one or both eyes.

4. Sudden difficulty walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination.

5. Sudden severe headache, with no known cause.

CIS Biotech, Inc. has developed laboratory tests for the early detection of stroke and, in collaboration with DeKalb Medical Center (Decatur, Georgia, USA), is making its "home brew" in-house assays available for screening people with conditions that place them at a higher risk for stroke, such as diabetes mellitus, atherosclerosis, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease.

These tests are among the first that can predict acute neurological events outside of a research setting. The is affordable, fast and minimally invasive, requiring only a small sample of venous blood. People with abnormal biomarker levels will be urged to visit their physicians for further testing to determine their risk for stroke.

Before CIS Biotech's patented assays, no blood tests were available to detect brain markers of cerebral ischemia. None of the previously available technologies allowed physicians to diagnose or predict ischemic stroke directly and cost-effectively. Now there is a solution!

Based on preclinical and clinical studies, two assays have been created and developed by CIS Biotech, Inc.

1. Gold Dot NR2 Antibody test kit: The Gold Dot NR2 Antibody assay is a serological enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for the quantitative determination of antibodies to the NR2 subunit of human NMDA glutamate receptor in serum. The test is intended to be used in conjunction with clinical evaluation and radiological methods for diagnosis of transient ischemic attack (TIA) and ischemic stroke vs stroke-like disorders. The Gold Dot NR2 Antibody ELISA indicates prior isolated or multiple ischemic stroke and increased risk of near-term cerebral ischemic events in patients with preexisting conditions (diabetes, hypertension, atherosclerosis, cardiovascular disorders). The test allows differentiation between ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke. For more information please take a look at the Gold Dot NR2 Antibody test flyer or Gold Dot NR2 Antibody Package Insert.

2. Gold Dot NR2 Peptide test kit: The Gold Dot NR2 Peptide test is a magnetic particle-based enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) intended for the quantitative determination of NR2 peptide fragment of NMDA receptors in plasma. The test is intended to be used in conjunction with clinical evaluation and radiological methods for diagnosis of ischemic stroke and transient ischemic attack (TIA). The Gold Dot NR2 Peptide test correlates with acute TIA and ischemic strokes affecting areas of cerebral cortex. The test allows differentiation between acute cerebral ischemic event and hemorrhagic stroke and stroke mimics. For more information please take a look at the Gold Dot NR2 Peptide test flyer or Gold Dot NR2 Peptide Package insert.

Both tests have CE mark and can be sold for research use only in the USA.

CIS Biotech, Inc has a CLIA certificate and Georgia State License for Gold Dot NR2 Peptide test and Gold Dot NR2 Antibody test. We can perform the testing at our facility for in and out of state patients if they are referred by authorized physician (the request paperwork will be provided upon your request) and also if your state does not have any additional certification requirements for out of state sample shipment and analysis. Please browse over to our Service page, were you will find the proper papger work and information for in house testing services.
